That success means many different things to many different people, but usually it means freedom of some sort.

However to get to success in nearly anything, but especially with a network marketing business, it’s going to take learning new skills, and attributes that can help get you there.

Why Self Development Is Essential with a Network Marketing Business

One thing about success is that it never comes for free. There’s always a price to be paid, and that price is usually through time, effort, hard work, and essential self development.

I’ve always said that network marketing is the ultimate business for self development, because it encompasses such a diverse skill set to achieve ultimate success.

You’ve got to have an entrepreneur spirit and mindset. You’ve got to have skills in persuasion, both verbally and written. You’ve got to be able to read people and react to what you’re analyzing about them. You need to be organized. You need backbone and perseverance. And the list goes on and on.

And from my 25 years of experience in this business, I’ve noticed that the people who have the most of these various skills are the people who not only achieve the most success with their network marketing business, but they’re also the people who have the longest reigns of success.

However here’s what seems to be the key…

These people don’t just learn a ton of new skills all at once and become the jack of all trades. That’s not what gives you longevity of success with your network marketing business.

Nope, this industry is a marathon, rather than a sprint.

People who seem to really well, understand act upon the fact that learning and become extremely proficient in one skillset at a time is the best way to achieve huge success. At various stages in your network marketing career, you’ll find that you’ll need new skills to progress to the next step.

It’s almost like a game of Angry Birds. The first level is simple and easy. You have to pass the first level to get to the second and the second level is going to take some new skills. You’ve got to get those down before you can get to the third level, where…yes you guessed it…you’ll have to hone your skills and learn more.

That’s life in a nutshell. And the purpose of this post is to make you aware that self development is almost mandatory in this industry. Those who are afraid to learn new skills and attributes are those who will struggle and remain, while those who systematically and strategically set out for self development will flourish with the network marketing business.
