Everyone wants to try to sell you the next shiny object when it comes to marketing.

But what most seem to forget is that sometimes simply sticking to the basics is about the wisest thing you can do. The basics seem to be a forgotten aspect of marketing a home business. There is one basic tenet however that happens to be one of the most important in all marketing, all the time.

So here’s the deal…

Marketing isn’t as hard as everyone will have you believe. It’s not easy of course, and most people do it sorely wrong, but I believe that it’s because most people over complicate things.

Most people will create an ad or entire marketing campaign for their business and forget the one most important aspect of that campaign altogether. This aspect is the SELFISH aspect and question that everyone has which is “what’s in it for me”.

Now here’s the thing. Many of those who are marketing a home business do eventually get to this question somewhere in the ad. They’ll elude to it within the body of a sales page…maybe on a bullet somewhere, etc. But the problem is that usually this is too little too late.

The best place to appeal to this selfish part that the prospect/reader has is as close to the beginning of the ad as possible. Now usually this will mean right smack in the HEADLINE of the ad if this is a print ad. If not, and the way that you obtain leads and/or customers for your home business is person to person, then getting the main benefit or advantage to the customer as close to your opening statement as possible is paramount.

Either way, the gist of it is that the faster you appeal to that part of the brain which overpowers everything else, the “what am I going to get” part of the brain…the more success you’ll have with your business.

The reason is simple. As soon as you tell the prospect what you can do for them, it will intrigue them to want to hear more. That’s the main goal of all marketing, is to catch the attention of someone who will be responsive to your solution to there problems or fulfillment to their needs. Once you’ve captured their attention then half the battle is won.

Here’s how to try this yourself…

If you use a website for marketing your home business, then change the headline using a benefit ridden headline. Basically an “if you do this (join my biz op, buy my products, etc.), you will get this.”

If you use face to face marketing, then simply change your first sentence in the same way.

If you use radio, do the same… make your first sentence clear as day spelling out exactly what the benefit is of your product, service, or business opportunity.

Whatever your method of marketing a home business is, you’ll see that this simple exercise will increase your business and income.

Now I may have just broke a record for number of times someone used the word list in a sentence but it’s absolutely truly the secret to getting in the habit of making lists.

But there are other handy dandy tricks that will make your list a great weapon in your arsenal for increased productivity, and therefore increased success with your network marketing business.

First… you have to actually make the list for the day the night before. If you wake up in the morning and still have to make your list then you’re doing it totally wrong. You need to create your list the night before, because frankly that’s when everything is the most fresh in your mind.

The best way is to go over your list from the day, and see what you weren’t able to get to. You can either choose to start there for the following day, or to simply bypass that task, or keep it on the bottom of things you might get to.

This comes to my next point which is prioritizing your list. Your list really should have more stuff on it than you can finish. If it doesn’t then you’re not trying hard enough to succeed. But since there is too much stuff on your list, you have to prioritize your list by what’s most important. Simply putting numbers on your list is fine, or you can make a new ordered list. Whatever works for you!

And then the most important part of your list – and incidentally most fun – is crossing things off the list. There’s a great satisfaction that comes with crossing finished items off of your list. It’s a great motivator to keep going.

Just like your local hardware store, the thing that makes people want to keep coming back to YOU is not how smart you are, or how much money you earn, but how you treat THEM. So if your downline or retail product users aren’t feeling like they’re actually getting good “service” from you…they will walk.

In fact if we’re talking product users, they will simply leave you and simply go find a new distributor to buy from. This happens because very often someone with a network marketing business will ignore their product customers and focus solely on their business builders. That’s a big mistake for a whole host of reasons.

But the fact is that you can’t go on thinking that you’re immune from people getting up and leaving your network marketing business just because it’s a home business.

So what are some things that you can do to make sure that people aren’t leaving your business in droves because of your lack of customer service attention?

First of all the easiest way to impress people, both in your downline and product customers, is to simply be there. To be available! I see so many network marketers these days online touting that they’ve got systems where you never have to speak to anyone.

Don’t fall for this. What these people actually are selling is an internet marketing system rather than a network marketing system. This can be a great home business, but the fact is that if you’re calling yourself a network marketer and you’re not talking to anyone, then you’re actually not a network marketer at all.

Here’s the deal. Joining a business opportunity is a huge decision. It’s not cheap and you’re stepping into a huge commitment. Even dropping a hundred bucks for a months worth of products that you’ve never heard of, you’ve never seen in a store, and you really aren’t positive is going to give your results is an enormous decision. For some people it could even mean having to work a couple hours of overtime. So you can’t take the fact that these people are going to have some very poignant questions lightly.

And if you’re not there to answer they WILL move on to someone who does.

But the customer service doesn’t stop when someone signs on to join your team, or orders your products. And don’t even think that you can just defer them to call the company, or to an online brochure that explains how things work. Nah uh! These people bought from you, and they expect answers from you. And they’re right to expect that.

The fact is, if you don’t want to deal with these things then you really shouldn’t be in this business at all. You should perhaps go ahead and try to become purely an internet marketer who hides behind his computer. (Only the residual income isn’t there!)

The bottom line is that your best chance of succeeding with your network marketing business is caring about the people that you deal with. This goes from prospects who aren’t sure, to downline members who need to be trained, and to product users who aren’t sure if they should take Agel Fit with Agel HRT or not!

Your home business, especially if you want to be in my downline, had better say WELCOME at the front door, and it had better mean it. If not, you then your chances of becoming successful with a network marketing business are dismal, and your chances of growing a global empire like we have with our team get flushed straight down the toilet.
