Why Network Marketing Advice Revolving Around Pride and Integrity Is So Important

Integrity is defined as, ”Adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty.”

This is a great definition and one that you should truly consider when it comes to your network marketing business.

Far too many people get into this business because they think that it’s a way to earn a fast buck. They’re all too ready to do whatever it takes, without integrity of what they’re doing, just to sign people up to their business.

They do this sometimes even when they know that it’s not the right business for their prospects. They do it even when they know that their prospect can’t afford the business, and will have to go without. They do it even knowing that they’re not going to do their duty and stick around long enough to make this person begin to see success before they leave them stranded. They simply strand them from the beginning.

Not having integrity tarnishes not only the network marketing industry. Take this network marketing advice to heart when I tell you that not having integrity with your business will tarnish the pride that you have in yourself.

Yes, you may make that quick buck. You may get a fast start bonus from signing up that person that you knew the business wasn’t right for.

But what that does to your pride, deep down to your core cannot be discounted one bit. Because it’s real, and it’s something that you can’t run away from! It’s something that can and will haunt you.

You must have integrity in all of your business practices. It may hurt to tell that prospect that you won’t sign them up because you don’t think they’re ready, or that they don’t have the time or commitment. It may hurt your pocket for a few days or weeks to tell that prospect that you won’t have the time to dedicate to them for training, so therefore you can’t in good conscience sign them up right now.
Or you may tell them, “I won’t have time to train you, but I can hook you up with one of my downline that will train you just as good as me”, which can be a win/win/win and everyone is happy, and your pride and integrity are still intact.

Here’s one last piece of network marketing advice when it comes to having integrity and keeping your pride.

Your integrity gets carried with you, just as your sense of pride does, and just as your reputation. Having the reputation of having integrity is the greatest thing that you can ask for. It’s something to strive for.

Take this network marketing advice with you into all areas of your life, because it will help you live a happier more profitable life.

Well I’ll tell you right here. It’s being a true leader. Being someone who can build a huge following of raving fans who are dying to work with you, and feel that you truly can lead them to success.

So the question then is; are you a leader or a follower?

Why would I ask that question?

Well there are actually two important reasons why.

First I would like to get you to ask that question of yourself. It’s an important question you know? It could mean the difference between success and failure in a lot of areas of your life believe it or not.

Even if you weren’t a network marketer (which hopefully you are)… then it could mean whether or not you excel at work, how effective you are as a parent, how well you do out in the dating world, and even how much influence you have in your group of friends.

It’s the difference in whether or not people look up to you, or back to you to make sure you’re still there. It could even mean the difference between life and death in a survival situation.

But learning the skills to become a great leader definitely means the difference between whether or not you’re a heavy hitter in MLM or just another number in someone else’s downline.

More importantly, rather than just asking yourself if you’re a leader or follower, I would like you to think about ways that you’re a leader. Or think about the ways that you’re a follower, and then think of ways where next time you can turn that around and fall more into the leadership role.

Why do I ask you to take it that one step further and think about specific ways? It’s because if you do that then you’re going to be more honest with yourself. You see, in life we tend to lie to ourselves – about ourselves sometimes…so as not to bruise our ego’s I suppose…and when we think in terms of specifics, it gives your mind very little room to appease itself.

If you’ve decided that your leadership skills can use a bit of work, then you would be doing yourself the greatest favor of your life to study and learn how to be the leader that you know that you should be!

The other reason that you want to make sure that you’re a leader is because it’s much easier to find a mentor that will lead you to success if you are, believe it or not.

Now you would think that you need to find a mentor to show you how to become a better leader right? This is true, and you should seek out mentors for that stage of the game even if it means studying other leaders and modeling their behavior.

But the fact is that once you have leadership skills then a whole new world of opportunity opens up to you, and that means that people who wouldn’t normally work with you will. You see there are many people in this world, myself included, who really don’t have the time to drag people through the race, much less the finish line.

I will take the time to push you, coach you, and prod you along the way, but I would expect that by the time we were three quarters of the way through the race, that you would take it upon yourself to finish the job.

These are the people that my wife Ann and I work with solely. And these are the people who very often go on to make thousands their first month out of the gate, because they have the confidence in their leadership skills to go out and do what we tell them.

They’re not hiding behind their computer screens hoping for the miracle of easy and fast money, or trying to make thousands off of their “funded proposals” rather than their network marketing business.

If you’re a leader, if you fall into that category, then you’re the type of person that we want to work with. And we’re the type of  Leaders that can mentor you to where you want to be…

Remember if you’re ship doesn’t come in….then swim out to meet it!

A lot of people don’t understand why sponsoring and “recruiting” has to be a part of the network marketing business and what’s so important about doing it.

It’s pretty much all about just what it’s called, building a network. But it’s not just any network… a network of people marketing a business where you get a percentage from their efforts.

Now you’re probably wondering – if my 2 decades experience steers me correctly – “Now why would they want to give you a percentage of the sales when they could just keep all of the money themselves” right?

Well, that’s a valid question, and we don’t like to run away from the tougher questions like most network marketers do. WE like to tackle them head on and clear up any misconceptions.

The main ingredient to success in Network Marketing is simple…it’s LEVERAGE!

In a nutshell, no matter how darn smart you are, now matter how great you are at sales, or how much energy you have, you’re still constrained by the same amount of hours per day. I like to hear when people call it the “great equalizer” because it truly is.

But when you sponsor people into your downline, then you’re actually utilizing not only your 24 hours, but you’re also utilizing theirs. That’s the main reason for “sponsoring” in network marketing. It’s massive leverage.

Now you may be asking yourself then if these products are so great, then why doesn’t the company just put them out in the market, and sell them that way. Of course I’ve heard this a lot as a network marketing professional for the past 20 years as well, and it always makes me sort of smile.

First of all, let’s look at advertising and how it works.

When a company advertises their products via commercials, radio ads, newspaper ads, etc. it costs them from hundreds of thousands of dollars to very easily millions of dollars…UPFRONT!

But, when you have a sales force of distributors marketing your products all over the world, through the greatest advertising in the world…word of mouth…and you add in a way for people to actually get a commission for selling those services…then you’re paying your advertising AFTER the FACT! It’s a genius model for any company.

If you’ve ever tried muscling your way into a crowded marketplace, even when you DO have the best product in the world, with general untrackable advertising alone, then you know how difficult that can truly be.

Another Important Reason that Sponsoring in MLM is Crucial to Your Financial Health…

Whether you have a traditional 9 to 5 job, or you own your own brick and mortar business, then you know that YOU have to be there every day no matter what, or else you’re going to lose money.

There’s no vacations, there’s no being able to actually get sick and recover, you have to be there.

But when you have a downline of thousands of people, when you have a network of people with the goal of selling products for you and your team, then suddenly getting sick, or taking a vacation isn’t such a big deal. In fact, it’s recommended once you’ve built your business. (Well not the getting sick part of course).

The key is teaching your downline to be successful in all the correct way, which means being a good sponsor, and creating duplication in your business. Having a successful downline helps both you and them live happier and healthier lives.

Sponsoring in network marketing is truly a great and powerful concept… too bad it’s so little understood even after all of these years.

It’s really nuts when I think about it, and when Ann and I hear every excuse under the sun from people why they don’t want to talk to this person or that person, I really do want to scream. Not only do I want to scream…I want to scream at them “What the heck is wrong with you????”

Now I know that this side of the MLM industry is getting a lot of heat for being old news, outdated, and traditional. But of course, being someone who’s built two huge downlines, and who’s helped others do exactly the same thing time after time – and become financially wealthy…I can only say FUGEDDABOUTIT!!!

But that’s almost beside the point. Even if that weren’t true – before the internet ever came along there were people who would fight me tooth and nail over talking to their friends and family about their MLM business. But I have to wonder…

If you were to go out and buy a shoe store, or a McDonalds franchise, or a Diner, or a hardware store…wouldn’t you tell your friends and family all about it? Why would you hide the fact? How could you possibly hide the fact? It’s your business!!

When you become a network marketer…IT’S YOUR BUSINESS!

Ok, so I’m peering into your thoughts and you’re saying to yourself… “Yeah David, but I don’t want to look like I’m trying to sell them something”… Or… “I don’t want to look like I’m trying to recruit them into something!”

Well the fact is that you shouldn’t be trying to “sell” them something. If you opened a diner would you be trying to sell them a burger constantly, or an omelet? No, but you would tell them that you or your cook makes a damn good omelet wouldn’t you?

So why wouldn’t you tell them that your MLM company makes some damn good products, and that a lot of the distributors that you work with make some damn good money?

If you had a restaurant, wouldn’t you give them a menu and say “Here’s what we have on our menu”. If you were a musician and you just cut a CD (or I guess they say “dropped a CD these days), wouldn’t you say “Here’s our newest CD, we’re playing next week at so and so place”? Of course you would, so why wouldn’t you give them a brochure with your products and/or give them a DVD to watch of your new business?

You see, it’s ALL in your mind, and how you frame things. I know that you’re embarrassed right now, that you feel like you’ll be ridiculed for trying something new, that nobody’s going to want to get into your opportunity until you’re doing good at it.

I know all of the excuses, and believe it or not, I even felt them at times.

But the difference, the one and only little difference that’s got me where I’m at earning a very high six-figure income and where you’re at is that I worked right through it and did it anyways.

I told people about my new business because that’s what business owners do.

If you want to hide behind your computer and try to make a buck doing that then more power to you, and I truly do wish you the best of luck. In fact if you contact me I can even point you to places to go where you might do well…

But if you want to be a true business owner, and you’ve decided to choose network marketing as your business then this my friend is the way to success, and the top 10% of network marketers know this to be true.

Frustrated?

So when you have a downline in the tens of thousands, you get to see it all. You get to see the people who succeed dramatically, making thousands of dollars a month right out of the gate…as well as those that struggle for months and years without seeing any success.

If you’re one of those struggling, then you’re certainly not alone, but I’m betting that there are a few very crucial reasons you’re not seeing success.

I have to admit, it can get frustrating constantly witnessing this go on in the industry… especially when I see on the flip-side how others succeed so dramatically from just doing a couple of things differently.

So with that in mind, I want to give you what I (a network marketing professional for the past 20 years) see as:

The 5 Biggest Reasons You’re Not Seeing Success in Network Marketing…

1) You didn’t realize that Network Marketing is Actually a Business… and not simply an “easy” way to make money from home.

This very likely may not be your fault, but rather the fault of your upline sponsor. It will do you a ton of good to avoid problems in your own business by not presenting your opportunity this way, even though it’s often the easier way to recruit people. But basically you’re swindling when you do.

We don’t need more swindlers in this industry.

The truth is that it takes commitment, work, effort, and TIME to succeed in this business. Basically, if your plan is to commit to 5 to 12 hours a week to your business – which is fine if that’s the time you have available – but the reality is that this is going to generate a small business income. Hey, that’s just the reality based upon committed time.

It’s most likely NOT going to get you to become a Diamond Director in our business opportunity which is Agel, or any other network marketing business for that matter…and anyone who tells you differently is just trying very hard to sell you their opportunity.

It’s just not going to happen like that, you need more people in the mix, more hours committed, and a serious commitment.

Basically, with the right amount of commitment and fortitude it will take about 1 year to actually become profitable in MLM…and that’s the TRUTH!

2) You Can’t Handle Rejection… Rejection isn’t easy for most people. It takes a bit of leather skin to be able to take it time after time after time, but the fact is that MOST people won’t want to join your opportunity or use your products.

But, if you talk to enough people, enough WILL want to join your opportunity to give you a profitable business. More so, if you talk to enough of the right people, enough of the right people will join your business to very possibly have you seeing MASSIVE results within that year.

You have to have the “Some Will, Some Won’t, So What, Next” attitude and not take any rejection personally.

What you should do however is try to make each presentation or conversation as good as it can be so that your odds improve with each one. But, you must always be prepared to walk away without making the sale, and be ok with it. And remember that sometimes you have to create “relationships and trust” before you can get a sale!

It’s actually an NLP (Neural Linguistic Programming) element where you basically find someone who’s achieved what you want to achieve, and you go deep within their thought processes, and actions (even down to the nitty-gritty in both aspects)…and the end result is supposed to be that you will achieve the same desired outcome. The fact is I do believe that mentors are very important.  I think that mentors can take you from zero to hero faster than anything else, any type of training, etc.  I have seen it first hand as Ann and I have mentored thousands to earn incomes that they never thought was possible. But the problem is that online, where anyone can conjure up fake credentials – it’s hard to know who the heck to trust. It goes beyond that though.  There are so many people online that it’s impossible to follow even all of the good ones.  So then it becomes time to make a decision. First of all you have to have a specific direction that you’re aiming to go in.  It’s sad when you see someone with no focus spin around chasing their tail, never getting anywhere because they’ve decided to follow this person and that person spreading themselves out way too thin. The key is to find your direction, pick the one person in the field that you would like to emulate, and then following that person closely.  Don’t listen just to what they say to do, but also watch what they’re actually doing themselves. This is easier than ever now online, because basically people leave a trail of info about themselves to follow. For instance if you’re following a certain internet marketer, or network marketer, you can sign up to their email lists, as well as their social networking accounts and watch how they conduct themselves. Keep an eye on the emails and messages that they send out. If you watch closely, this will result in you knowing way more about this person that those that just blindly follow what that person says. What’s he saying?  Actions speak louder than words.  That is ever so true. Finding That Diamond in the Rough Again, there are so many mentors available to follow now because of the internet that it’s very easy to find one, but picking the one that’s right for you essential. I think it comes down to credentials.  They must really be who they say they are, and you must be able to verify this both through third parties, as well as through them personally. Also attitude and outlook has a lot to do with your success. Let’s face it, if you find a mentor who is doing what you want to be doing, but you don’t mesh well with their outlook on life, then it’s going to be very difficult to follow that person.  It may cause you to break personal rules…so therefore finding a mentor that you actually like is extremely vital. If you’ll find one mentor, and stick with them until you’ve reached a fair amount of success then you can then spread your wings a little and venture out to others. Let me leave you with this thought from a very famous British novelist: “To succeed, we must first believe that we can.”
